Club board and members are actively engaged with Milpitas City government to promote and enhance pickleball within Milpitas. Here are some of our efforts.
We routinely attend city planning meetings and parks and recreation meetings to advocate for better pickleball environment.
At the last Milpitas City Council meeting, the future of the Hall Memorial Pickleball's Pilot Program of almost 2 years was a topic of great discussion. Milpitas Pickleball Club turned out in large numbers, with over 20 people and even a couple of students from Milpitas High School. Many passionately testified to the sport's growing popularity, health benefits, openness, and accessibility in the attempt, advocating to convert the pilot program into permanent 6 pickleball courts at Hall Memorial Park. However, our efforts weren't successful. The council passed a resolution allowing action on all proposed items, except for Hall Memorial Pickleball, leaving its future undecided. Although it wasn't our desired outcome, we continue to work towards making Hall Memorial pickleball a lasting part of our community's future.
